Pitches &
Submissions

The Taft Research Group on Collectively Reimagining Global Politics, Re-envisioning Humanity at the University of Cincinnati (UC), invites both co-authored and single-authored blog submissions of between 500 and 1000 words to potentially post on our recently created blog site.

This research group is comprised of faculty and graduate students who study global politics and political humanities from interdisciplinary, intersectional, queer, decolonial, and transnational feminist perspectives. Our purpose is to apply collective reimaginings of all sorts to challenge geopolitical, socioeconomic, linguistic, and epistemological borders, the neoliberal academy and broader western/northern hegemonies, and stratified constructions of the human that also excise the more-than-human world. Through the development of a collection of multiple writings, whether collectively or individually produced, around these related themes, we seek to disturb individualized, Eurocentric, binary, and normative modes of knowledge production and ways of knowing about global politics and humanity towards re-envisioning less violent, intersectional, and more just relationships and ways of being.

Students and faculty at UC or elsewhere who wish to contribute to our blog are welcome to submit their blogs for review by the research group moderators for potential publication.

We particularly welcome blogs seeking ways to creatively counter various global crises, from climate change and militarization to extractive capitalism and gender violence, as they materialize in various parts of the world and on multiple levels. We are most interested in blogs that contribute to alternative knowledge production, for example, drawing upon autoethnographic, visual, narrative, and even fictional approaches that open up relationships between the global and the intimate and the human and non-human worlds and enable alternative visions of how to alter or repair those relations. We are also interested in how such approaches can contribute to transforming ourselves, our relations with others, and our activism. In this sense, this is an initiative to blur the lines between theory and praxis. Thus, we encourage creative, experimental, and reflective writings that can illuminate how to reimagine global politics and reenvision humanity within and beyond academia.

As a public open access space for publishing and disseminating critical reflections, we hope this blog will promote building further networks of critical thinkers who will join together to transform what constitutes global politics and post-human inquiry towards transforming ourselves, our academic and activist worlds, and the world at large.

Although style is open, we expect appropriate citations and references when applicable, and hyperlinks can be used to point readers to particular resources while adhering to reflexive and respectful discourse.
